As a longtime student of Buddhism, I had not thought deliberately about the Four Noble Truths for many years. The truth of suffering, the cause of suffering, the cessation of suffering, and the path, provide a way to understand the short-term and long-term aspects of our life journey. These teachings offer consolation, comprehension, and inspiration.

Arriving in Sarnath in time for the 10th Anniversary Celebration and the Four Noble Truths Seminar was a wonderful orientation to SINI. I attended the sessions as a student of Buddhism and as an English language specialist. The teachings were held in the newly dedicated Dharmachakra Center, a beautiful, quiet, and comfortable space. To hear these teachings in Sarnath, where they were first taught by the Buddha, was especially wonderful.

The SINI Four Noble Truths seminar acts as a practicum for SINI EDP students. Even though their challenge was to share their knowledge in English they made clear connections with each of their students by using analogies and stories. Their interactions with us created an open atmosphere for learning. It was the perfect orientation to SINI.

Patricia joined the SINI team in November 2023 to support Tsering Gellek with many projects. In addition to a broad range of experiences in administration and project coordination, she taught English for Specific Purposes for over 20 years in the U.S. and overseas. Originally from Michigan, she works for SINI from Boulder Colorado when she’s not in Sarnath.
